🌱 How reproducible is a gingerol measurement in a real-world ginger shot?
In this video, we perform a live triplicate analysis of a Moju Ginger Shot using the FoodSense Generation 4 platform. The goal is to measure the total gingerol concentration and assess the repeatability of the method by calculating the Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) across three independent sample preparations.

✅ Three separate measurements
✅ Sample dilution and preparation shown live
✅ Statistical assessment of precision
📊 Results
Three measurements were obtained:
Sample X: 448 ppm
Sample Y: 397 ppm
Sample Z: 404 ppm
Summary statistics:
📈 Mean: 416 ppm
📏 Range: 397-448 ppm
📊 Standard Deviation: 27.9 ppm
🎯 Relative Standard Deviation (RSD): 6.7%
An RSD of 6.7% demonstrates good repeatability for a heterogeneous food sample, especially one containing suspended particulates such as ginger.
🔬 Why Triplicate Measurements Matter
Food and beverage samples are often naturally heterogeneous. Variability can arise from:
Differences within a bottle
Settling of suspended solids
Incomplete homogenization
Bottle-to-bottle variation
Batch-to-batch variation
Performing replicate analyses helps provide greater confidence in the reported concentration.
